Sarah’s Signature Tomato/Pasta Sauce

Being Italian, I learned from an early age that you NEVER use store bought sauce! My amazing mother used my great grandmothers recipe and let me tell you …it is delicious! Home-made meatballs, lasagna, sauce, u name it and my mom would cook the heck out of it! I love her and her cooking, but I had to recreated some of her recipes in a healthier fashion:) This is my scrumptious sauce recipe and I hope this becomes part of your monthly cooking line-up!

  • First wash and cut stems off of the tomatoes. Diced up into small pieces.

  • Mince fresh garlic and add to a large crock pot.

  • Open all cans up and pour into the crock pot. Add tomatoes to the crock pot. Add water and the rest of the ingredients to the crock pot.

  • Now mix with your hands until well combined.

  • Put crock pot on low and let cook all day or high and let cook for a few hours. I always make my sauce the day before serving to allow for the flavors to marinate:)

  • This makes a good amount and can be kept in the fridge for a week or 2. I freeze any remaining sauce and just pull it out as needed for recipes.
